I came across this recipe in a 1956 cookbook published by a group of women in Worcester, MA (my hometown) in support of the Jewish Home in the community. After making a few minor modification, this fabulous treat emerged. The name on the recipe was "Safari Bars", so I decided to go with it.
Enjoy this 8" x 8" square cookie bar which is a layer of oatmeal shortbread cookie, topped with a raisin pate then covered with another layer of oatmeal shortbread cookie.
